Ted Morcaldi is an American guitarist, composer, improviser, and sonic texturalist. He has forged a unique musical voice on electric, classical, and twelve-string guitars enhanced with loops and electronics creating otherworldly soundscapes within his wide-ranging compositions.

While living in NYC, Ted recorded his first album as a leader with bassist Manel Fortia and drummer Buz Donald titled “Re-Entry”, which was released in 2021. Ted’s latest record with the new American music collective, Secular Music Group - Vol. 1, is a collabation led by Emmy-nominated film composer, musician, and engineer Chris Ruggiero. The album was released on Love All Day Records in June 2024 and debuted at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in the OJAS Hi-Fi listening room. Ted relocated to the UK in 2023 and now leads a trio of guitar, double bass and drums.

The trio focuses on his original compositions and group improvisations as well as duo and solo pieces of varying instrumentation. After a 5-month weekly residency in Cambridge, the trio recorded an album which will be released spring of 2025.

Ted continuously works with many different bands and projects in the UK, including a guitar duo with renowned guitarist Chris Montague and an improvisational quartet with bassist Dominic Lash, saxophonist Josh Ison and drummer Dave Fowler.

"Morcaldi’s playing brings together a sense of earthiness and grit with a celestial air of exploration—economical in its expression as it is outwardly searching in its disposition."

- EP Prezzano, Love All Day Records

"A tight yet versatile trio, making the most of Ted’s intriguing compositions..... with the US guitarist equally adept on electric and acoustic instruments, enhancing the former with loops and electronic effects, often creating multi-layered soundscapes…..”

- Pete Butchers – Jazz Today
