Offbeat Science

Offbeat Science returns and it’s still always better live – nothing beats the feeling of music or science happening right in front of you.

Cambridge Science Centre and Upbeat Big Band collaborate once again to bring together an electrifying big band sound, explosive science, and a healthy dose of mayhem to create an uproarious show like you’ve never heard or seen before (well, not since last year anyway).

Set against the pulse-raising sounds of jazz, tango, blues, and soul, join us as we explore the human senses, test the chemistry of fire, hope that the laws of physics don’t deviate when bowling balls are involved (again), and – new this year – how dance is science and music living its best life! Is it jazz? Is it science? It could be both but it’ll definitely be mayhem!

Offbeat Science is brought to you by Cambridge Science Centre and the Upbeat Big Band, featuring Argentine tango dancers David Chartoriski, UK stage tango champion, and Bethshona Kenny, and in partnership with Cambridge Junction, Cambridge Jazz Festival, and Cambridgeshire Music.

J2 at Cambridge Junction. Unreserved seating. Duration: 2 hours. Ages 7+ (due to style of humour and level of science content; however, there is nothing inappropriate for younger audiences). No booking fees for Cambridge Junction Members.

Also performing at 1:00pm the same day: see the matinee performance.
